What inspires you?

Passion.

I love meeting people who embody what they do. People who love what they do so much, people who truly believe in what they’ve invested their time in that it is evident  in everything they do. They ooze passion from every pore - it is in every word they say, every one of their actions. That is what inspires me, that is what I am constantly working towards.

This past weekend was especially inspiring. There is so much passion in anger. And luckily, I got to hear from truly disgruntled youth who weren’t afraid to express themselves. I discovered passion at 10:30pm in a room full of university students - in an architect, in a finance student, in a graduate, in a chairperson. And the weekend was not over.

On Saturday, in the middle of a 5 hour meeting I met a man who has dedicated his life to the concept of community - to true altruism. It was so refreshing to meet a man my father’s age who was so progressive in his thinking, so hopeful for open dialogue with the youth, just so open-minded. I’m not saying there aren’t adults out there who have these qualities, but they are a rare sight these days.

It has always been hard to find people who understand my theories about youth - they are too idealist I hear. Haha. I’ve found inspiration in the girls I work with. Girls who at 15 are demonstrating a level of strength and courage that most adults I know are incapable of.

Who/what inspires you?
